There are 2 chamber models:
- Compulsory / Public law chambers
- Continental / Private law chambers
MembershipÂ
is open to any business, irrespective of size. Its 1200 members range from the largest chocolate bars companies to the smallest retail and professional operation. Together they provide well over half the private sector jobs in the area.
In the UK, membership is voluntary, but the North & Western Lancashire Chamber, as part of the British Chambers of Commerce, are prominent members of the world wide movement.
GM Chamber partnership with Hambantota Chamber
The Chamber plays a representative role in local planning issues aiming to keep retail outlets in the town centre.
